Another group of City Colleges students is now prepared to enter a rapidly growing job industry after 5-days of no-cost training.
Students at Humboldt Park Vocational Education Center, Wright College’s satellite campus, spent a week this summer in the Solar PV Panel Installation class. The Continuing Education course taught students the basics of solar photovoltaic systems, an electrical system that produces energy from the sun, and construction safety. Thanks to Wright’s Job Hire program, students participated in the course and received tool sets at no cost to them.
Students completed the 5-day course taking both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) -10 certification exam and the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) certification exam.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are about 2,500 projected job openings for solar photovoltaic installers each year from 2021 to 2031.
There are still spots available for the Fall 2023 Solar PV Panel Installation cohort. If you’d like to join, complete an interest form.
