May 20, 2025
Hundreds of Chicago Public Schools seniors will soon graduate from high school having already earned a semester’s worth of college credits for free from City...
Just weeks after their City Colleges’ graduation, two Truman College alumni are getting ready to transfer to their dream schools tuition-free.
Benny Acar and Suzi Ngafo Kengne were recently named recipients of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s prestigious Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, a last-dollar award that provides up to $55,000 per year for up to three years.
The Truman grads make up two of just six awardees from Illinois this year. 90 total students were selected from a pool of more than 1,600 applications from community colleges across the nation. According to the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, applicants were evaluated based on their academic achievement, unmet financial need, persistence, and leadership qualities.
“This year’s cohort reflects the remarkable talent and determination thriving in community colleges nationwide,” said Giuseppe “Seppy” Basili, Executive Director of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.
