City Colleges of Chicago welcomed faculty members from higher education institutions across the Midwest for the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Generative AI Bootcamp on Friday, July 17. Through hands-on learning, collaboration, and innovation, educators explored how generative AI and machine learning can transform teaching, curriculum development, and student success.
Artificial intelligence is transforming higher education, but many faculty are expected to engage with AI without being technologists. Through guided, hands on learning, participants explored generative AI concepts and AWS tools in an accessible, instructional context, with a focus on real classroom application rather than technical depth.
Faculty learned what generative AI is (and isn’t) in clear, non technical language, explored how AWS AI tools can be used in teaching and learning environments, discovered practical ways to integrate AI into assignments, activities, and curriculum across disciplines, build confidence using AI tools responsibly with students, and connected with peers navigating AI integration in higher education.
As a leader in the Midwest AI/Machine Learning Initiative with AWS, CCC continues to advance opportunities that prepare faculty and students for an AI-powered future.
