Five City Colleges of Chicago have been recognized as 2026-2027 Military Friendly Schools, honoring their dedication to serving military members, veterans, and their spouses. The honored colleges include Harry S Truman, Kennedy-King, Richard J. Daley, Olive-Harvey, and Wilbur Wright Colleges.
Harry S. Truman College earned Top Ten Gold distinctions for both Military Friendly School and Military Spouse Friendly School. Similarly, Kennedy-King College and Wilbur Wright College received Top Ten Gold recognition in both categories.
Richard J. Daley College received Gold for Military Friendly School and Military Spouse Friendly School, while Olive-Harvey College earned a Silver Military Friendly School distinction and recognition as a Military Spouse Friendly School.
The Military Friendly School awards highlight colleges that provide strong programs and initiatives for military students. A Gold distinction indicates a school scored within 10% of the 10th-ranked school in its category, while a Silver designation reflects a score within 20%. The “Top Ten” schools set the standard for veteran programs nationwide.
Designations are determined based on public data and responses from the colleges’ Military Friendly® Schools survey. Criteria include student retention, graduation rates, job placement, and loan repayment and default rates for all students, with particular focus on veterans.
City Colleges of Chicago supports active-duty service members, veterans, and their families through dedicated Veterans Services Centers at each campus. This recognition underscores the colleges’ commitment to empowering veteran students and ensuring their success throughout their educational journeys.
