Five City Colleges of Chicago students are all smiles this summer, having recently been awarded the S.M.I.L.E. (Success Matters in Life & Education) Scholarship from the PepsiCo Foundation. The award, which provides up to $25,000 to each recipient, is designed to help students transition from one of PepsiCo’s designated partner community colleges, including City Colleges, to four-year colleges and universities.
In addition to the funding aspect of the award, the scholarship helps to prepare recipients for a successful career by offering professional development opportunities, workforce readiness tools, and mentorship.
The five City Colleges recipients were selected based on their strong academic records, their demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, their work experience, their future goals and aspirations, and their personal essays. They join dozens of other City Colleges graduates who have earned high-value awards this year to transfer to four-year institutions, including the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, TheDream.US National Scholarship Award, and more.
