On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, City Colleges of Chicago Chancellor Juan Salgado joined higher education leaders from across the country in Washington, D.C., for the U.S. Department of Education’s National Summit on Equal Opportunity in Higher Education.

During a panel discussion, Chancellor Salgado discussed City Colleges’ efforts to remove barriers to access and provide robust resources and transfer pathways for our students.

“Community colleges have long been the beacon of hope and opportunity for upward mobility,” he said.

Chancellor Salgado was joined by the following higher education leaders, representing institutions and agencies across the United States:

• Michael Drake, President of the University of California
• Stephanie Rodriguez, Secretary for the New Mexico Higher Education Department
• Gary May, Chancellor of the University of California, Davis
• Christina Paxson, President of Brown University
