Motivated by a passion for civic leadership and inspired by the needs of her community, Angelynn Jimenez applied for the Timuel D. Black Jr. Scholarship and Fellowship Program.

A highlight of the fellowship was a trip to Alabama, where Angelynn and other student leaders reflected on civil rights and the ongoing fight for justice. This experience inspired a deeper commitment within her to advocate for the next generation of leaders.

“I’m going to share this opportunity with so many high schoolers who will be future City Colleges students,” she said proudly.

As part of the program, Angelynn received a scholarship that became a life-changing experience for her and her family.

“This scholarship funded my time at City Colleges, Ventra trips to school, and my books.”
