The Chicago Roadmap’s fourth annual Impact Report was just released, highlighting how the comprehensive partnership between Chicago Public Schools and City Colleges has grown since it officially launched in 2019.
Now heading into its fifth year, the Chicago Roadmap is increasingly recognized as a national model for K-12—community college partnership, preparing Chicago students for postsecondary success through high-quality instruction, early access to advanced programs, career exposure, and targeted supports.
The new report highlights tangible improvements in key student outcomes, including:
- Since the 2018-19 school year, the proportion of Black students eligible for college-level math at City Colleges increased by 22 percent, and the proportion of Black students eligible for college-level English increased by 19 percent.
- Since the inception of the Chicago Roadmap, transitional math classes have grown to be available in up to 75 high schools and up to 50 high schools for transitional English.
- City Colleges’ postsecondary navigators supported students in 91 CPS high schools last school year, helping guide students through the college application and decision process.
- Enrollment in the Model Pathways program grew to nearly 1,000 students last school year. These students are pursuing a sequence of industry-specific college coursework, accelerating their future careers.
- 727 CPS seniors from the Class of 2024 earned at least 15 credits for free during high school through City Colleges’ Early College program. Delivering on our commitment to equity, the racial demographics of students earning 15+ college credits was 42% Latine students and 40% Black students, reflecting a higher percentage of Black students than the percentage of Black high school juniors and seniors overall (35%).
