The goal of the Chicago Roadmap is to ensure that all Chicago students, regardless of background or ZIP Code, have the opportunity to get to and through college, paving the way for economic success.

One of the unique initiatives developed to achieve that goal is ACCESS Orientation—a two-day summer orientation for recent CPS graduates with documented disabilities. The orientation provides transitional support to the students and their parents as the students prepare to attend City Colleges in the fall.

On June 8, over 65 students and dozens of parents took part in the orientation at Malcolm X College. Attendees had the opportunity to explore City Colleges’ programs, receive enrollment support, learn about important wraparound services like City Colleges’ ACCESS Centers, and build community with their peers. As an added bonus, they received a $250 scholarship for completing the orientation.

We look forward to welcoming each of each of these new students to campus this fall!
