Malcolm X College West Campus to hold 5th Annual Community Day on Friday, August 14, 2026

CHICAGO— (August 4, 2026) –The public is invited to attend Community Day at Malcolm X College West Campus from 10am to 3pm on Friday, August 14.

Students can register now for fall 16-week classes which start August 20, 2026, visit www.ccc.edu/apply. 

“Community Day reflects what Malcolm X College is all about—creating opportunities by connecting education and community. We are proud to invest in that future by bringing together our community with the programs and career pathways that can make a lasting difference. We are especially grateful to our community partners, including West Side Health Authority, Habilitative Systems, BUILD, West Side Task Force, Versiti Blood Center of Illinois, and Introspect Youth Services, whose collaboration helps make this event possible and strengthens our shared commitment to the people of Chicago,” said President David Sanders, Malcolm X College.

Malcolm X College West Campus is located at 4624 W. Madison Street in Chicago, and the Community Day event will be held across the street from the campus. Partners planning to attend include the West Side Health Authority, Habilitative Systems, BUILD, West Side Task Force, Versiti Blood Center of Illinois, and Introspect Youth Services.  The event will be held rain or shine and is ideal for those who are exploring educational pathways and thinking about enrolling at City Colleges of Chicago (CCC). There will also be music, food, giveaways and raffle prizes, all gratis.

While at the event, participants can learn about healthcare career pathways and speak with representatives from the following educational pathways:

• Adult Education (High School Equivalency and English as a Second Language)
• Community and Continuing Education
• Early College-Dual Enrollment
• Health Sciences (Community Health Worker, Medical Assisting, Patient Care Technician)
• Nursing (Basic Nursing Assistant, BNA)
• Admissions
• American Job Center

“Our fifth annual Community Day is a celebration and gives people an opportunity to explore our educational programs, healthcare careers, workforce resources, and support services in a welcoming environment right here in their neighborhood. We are thankful to all of our partners for helping us create an event that showcases what’s possible when we work together to expand opportunity for everyone,” said Dean Barbara Meschino, Malcolm X College West Campus.

In addition, one of the 10 regional American Job Centers (AJC) in The Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership’s (The Partnership) network is located at the MXC West Campus. It offers a range of employment services for adult career seekers, whether starting a career or looking for new opportunities and career providers (employers).

The Malcolm X College West Campus is a public post-secondary institution. In addition to offering courses for a two-year traditional associate’s degree, it offers basic and advanced certificates in Basic Nursing Assistance and Health Science career pathways. It also offers programming in Adult Education and Community and Continuing Education​.
