The inaugural Titan 100 Chicago cohort was announced in 2024. Every year since, Malcolm X College President David Sanders’ name has been on that list, recognized as one of the city’s most influential leaders. Now, for the third consecutive year, he’s been named a Titan 100. Additionally, he’s one of ten recipients to earn a place in the Titan 100 Hall of Fame, the program’s highest achievement.
The Titan 100 program highlights the area’s top CEOs and C-suite executives, celebrating leaders who demonstrate exceptional vision, impact, passion, and innovation. Honorees come from various sectors from construction and education to healthcare, finance, manufacturing, nonprofit, and more.
President Sanders’ career at City Colleges spans more than a decade and reflects his commitment to transformational leadership. Before becoming president of Malcolm X College in 2018, he served in several key roles, including Auxiliary Services Director at Kennedy-King College, Deputy Chief Operating Officer for the District Office, and Lead Executive Project Manager for the $251 million Malcolm X College and School of Health Sciences and Career Programs.
Under President Sanders’ leadership, Malcolm X College has strengthened its academic programs, expanded student support services, and further established itself as a leader in health sciences education. He has overseen major institutional advances—including the $17 million expansion of the Malcolm X College West Campus, the creation of the Institutional Effectiveness Department, and significant progress in accreditation. During his tenure, the college earned 10-year regional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission and secured eight years of specialized accreditation for its nursing program. Under his leadership, Malcolm X has seen the highest retention rate in college history and the college’s operations and grants budget increased from $34.5 million in 2015 to more than $76 million in 2022.
Beyond his executive responsibilities, President Sanders is completing his doctoral studies in Educational Leadership at Concordia University Chicago. He is also an active church leader, husband, father, and grandfather.
The Titan 100 Hall of Fame is reserved for leaders who have been named a Titan 100 for three consecutive years and who demonstrate the highest standard of leadership. They are chosen through a rigorous on-camera interview process with a live panel. President Sanders and the other Chicago Titan 100 recipients will attend the 2026 Chicago Titan 100 Awards will be held on February 19, 2026.
President David A. Sanders’ induction into the Titan 100 Hall of Fame affirms his leadership, his enduring impact at Malcolm X College and City Colleges of Chicago, and his broader influence as a champion of innovation, equity, and community advancement.
