Chancellor Juan Salgado was recently recognized for his efforts to advocate for youth in Chicago by Project OneTen. At the non-profit organization’s annual Summer Soirée fundraiser in support of Black and Latine freshman in Chicago, Project OneTen celebrated Chancellor Salgado with its North Star Award.
“[Chancellor Salgado] has a long history of being a powerful advocate for boys and young men of color in Chicago—expanding opportunity through education, workforce innovation, and community leadership,” said Project OneTen.
Project OneTen’s mission is to “create intentional spaces for Black and Brown boys during the critical transition to high school through mentorship and peer-to-peer community building.” Chancellor Salgado and the other honoree, MBK Alliance, an initiative of the Obama Foundation, were celebrated for their alignment to Project OneTen’s mission of serving Black and Latine boys and young men in Chicago.
