On October 22nd, the 2024 Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators (IEA) Program cohort visited Malcolm X College. This program, part of the “Introduction to International Education Pathways and Collaborations” initiative, was sponsored by the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) and hosted by the University of Notre Dame. The program included sessions in South Bend, Indiana; Chicago, Illinois; and Washington, D.C. We are proud that Malcolm X College was chosen as the only community college on the itinerary.
During their time at the college, participants toured the campus, engaged with faculty and staff, and participated in a panel discussion highlighting the impact and innovation at Malcolm X College.
One participant noted, “we had an exciting day today at Malcolm X, one of Chicago’s pioneering and leading community colleges….The social impact, the excellent job opportunities they provide to students, and their state-of-the-art healthcare simulation lab imparting health science skills were a treat to visit. So much to learn from!”
Another said, “here is a college that leaves no stone unturned to ensure that every student in the community is in a space that is completely invested in their mental, physical, and emotional well-being. I was most moved by (1) the nurturing of body and mental health through subtle means, (2) the crediting of work done, and aspirations achieved, and, of course, (3) the charismatic leadership of the president!”
The Malcolm X College team was pleased to be able to share their work with colleagues from across the globe, and remain committed to advancing the local community while fostering global partnerships.
