As graduation season continues, Chancellor Juan Salgado is sharing an inspirational message with City Colleges of Chicago graduates and degree earners across the city.
In addition to speaking at City Colleges’ 2024 Commencement Ceremony for associate degree earners and Illinois High School Diploma Recognition Ceremony, Chancellor Salgado delivered the keynote address at the commencement ceremony for DePaul University’s College of Communication and College of Education on Saturday, June 15, where he received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters (L.H.D.) degree from the university. He also shared remarks with the graduates of UIC’s College of Education on Thursday, May 2.
Having focused his own 20-year career on improving educational and economic opportunities for Chicagoans, Chancellor Salgado encouraged graduates to “stay in a place long enough to make a difference.” He reminded the many future educators in the rooms of the powerful role they will have and the opportunity to build a culture of care within their classrooms and communities.
Both DePaul and UIC are key transfer partners for City Colleges of Chicago, with many associate degree earners choosing to pursue their bachelor’s degrees at the schools.
