On Monday, September 25, 2023, Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff Veronica Herrero participated in a live community conversation with WTTW’s Latino Voices. Herrero was joined by Sylvia Puente, president and CEO of the Latino Policy Forum, and Ric Estrada, president and CEO of Metropolitan Family Services. The virtual conversation was moderated by WTTW News on-air reporter Joanna Hernandez.

Throughout the discussion, Executive Vice Chancellor Herrero discussed our colleges’ efforts to promote civic engagement and make education accessible to all Chicagoans. She highlighted multiple initiatives that City Colleges has implemented to remove barriers to college, including the Star Scholarship and Future Ready.

“We [City Colleges] are this amazing source of diverse talent,” Herrero said. “We’ve implemented several free college programs to make college more affordable to students…”
