When Mbali arrived in the United States from South Africa, she knew she wanted to continue her education and pursue a career in business. But it wasn’t until she began learning about supply chain and logistics at Olive-Harvey College that she discovered her true passion.

“I realized this was the right path for me,” Mbali shared. “Olive-Harvey has given me the chance to follow that passion.”

At first, balancing her studies wasn’t easy. Mbali worked full-time while attending classes full-time, often sacrificing sleep or struggling to afford the textbooks she needed. That all changed when she was awarded the PepsiCo Foundation Uplift Scholarship. The award allowed her to cover tuition and books, reduce her work hours, and take continuing education courses to strengthen her resume.

“This scholarship has lifted such a huge burden off my shoulders,” she said. “It gave me the space to focus on my education and truly enjoy my experience here.”

Mbali plans to transfer to a four-year university after graduating from Olive-Harvey College. Her ultimate goal is to start her own logistics and trucking company. Starting her own business will not only fulfill her entrepreneurial dreams, but it will also allow her to create opportunities for others.

“This scholarship is not just helping me today,” she explained. “It’s preparing me to build a future where I can give back to my community.”
