Malcolm X College alumnus Martin Gonzalez has nurses to thank for his health today and for inspiring his future career choice.
Martin had cancer as a child. He never forgot the nurses who helped him battle the cancer, and it inspired him to enroll in Malcolm X College’s nursing program.
As he pursued his dream, Martin also had access to the tools he needed to succeed at Malcolm X, including attentive faculty and scholarships. He credits his instructors for teaching him to be a great nurse.
Martin is also extremely grateful for the Star Scholarship, which allowed him to attend two years of college tuition free, and Project MPACT which helped him become a certified nursing assistant at no cost to him. Finally, the resources like the Career Center were invaluable to Martin. They helped him revamp his resume and land a role as a patient care technician.
