After graduating from Jones College Preparatory High School, Guadalupe Rojas-Gonzalez enrolled at Daley College as a first-generation college student. Her strong GPA in high school earned her the Star Scholarship, providing her with books and a college education at no cost.

“The Star Scholarship just seemed like such a great opportunity for me to be able to figure out what I wanted to do without having to worry that it’s affecting my family in a negative way financially,” she said.

Guadalupe worked in the Transfer Center during her time at Daley, where she helped her peers research scholarships and edit their essays. She noticed many of the staff members she came into contact with studied business in college, which sparked her interest in doing the same.

Having graduated from Daley as valedictorian, Guadalupe plans to pursue her bachelor’s degree in business at a four-year university. She hopes to continue her online American Sign Language and acting courses while preparing for an eventual career in the entertainment industry.
