As thankful as we are for Joe Tischina’s service to our country as a U.S. Marine, he’s just as thankful for City Colleges.

“I didn’t expect my student experience to be as good as it was. I didn’t like high school much, and I was sure I wouldn’t like college. That’s why I put off coming back to school for so long. But now I’m surrounded by people who support me and guide me. It changed my perspective on education in general.”

Shamika White graduated from Hyde Park Academy in 2000 and shortly thereafter joined the U.S. Navy. Working for both the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps as a body guard for a chaplain, Shamika spent eight years serving her country.
