For more than 25 years, Jocelyn Sanders built a successful career as a salon owner and licensed cosmetologist. But deep down, there were still goals she wanted to complete, like going back to school.
Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, Edgar Navarro-Angulo chose to attend Olive-Harvey College to help make his goal of becoming a Chicago police officer a reality.
“I want to become a Chicago police officer because I have always wanted to serve my community,” Edgar said.
He enrolled in Olive-Harvey’s Pathway to Policing (One Year and Out) program, a partnership with the Chicago Police Department, and obtained an associate degree in criminal justice in just one year. After graduating as valedictorian, Edgar enrolled at the Chicago Police Academy for training. He looks forward to completing training and starting his dream career.
“I come from [being] a college dropout, and i decided to go back to school, and i actually finished school, and now look where I’m at,” he said.
