Christopher Schaffer
Harold Washington College felt like home to Christopher Schaffer. When he decided to return to school to change careers, there was no other place he wanted to be.
Daley College student David Ramirez leads a busy life. In addition to his full-time studies in science, he is deeply involved on campus. David serves as a senator in Daley’s Student Government Association (SGA) and as City Colleges’ student trustee, acting as a liaison between students and the Board of Trustees in order to advocate for his peers.
To manage his packed schedule, David prioritizes self-care and mental health by regularly using Daley’s Wellness Center, a free resource available to all City Colleges students. He also appreciates other opportunities City Colleges provides to its students, which have pushed him out of his comfort zone and helped him build confidence that will benefit him long after graduation.
After he completes his associate degree, David plans to transfer to the University of Illinois Chicago so he can further his education and eventually pursue a career in dermatology.
