My academic path has been unique, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next. In high school, I took a long bus ride from my Southeast Side neighborhood to Jones College Prep in the Loop each day.
Chanel Wiley graduated from Harold Washington College in Fall 2017 with her Associate of Arts, and transferred in Spring 2018 to North Park University to major in Media Studies with a minor in Communications. Chanel was incredibly busy and involved on campus: she had two CCC internships – Public Relations Assistant and Information Greeter for the Harold Washington President’s Office – and was also the editorials writer for the Herald, HWC’s student-written newspaper. She received a grant from North Park and the Silver Transfer scholarship to continue her education. She is grateful to faculty and staff who helped her while she was at HWC, including Tanye Harrison in the Career Center, her advisor Alysandra Cruz-Bond, and Social & Applied Sciences professor Myra Cox.
