Harry S Truman alum Cecil Barnes decided to begin working full-time straight after high school.

He was a bartender when the pandemic hit and was unable to work. After some reflection, Cecil decided he wanted more for his life and he returned to college. He chose Truman because it was close to his house and it checked all the boxes for affordability and support.

Cecil received his associate degree in accounting and economics before transferring to UIC to study management and logistics. Once he completes his bachelor’s degree at UIC, he wants to go into operations management. Cecil says he felt prepared to transfer and feels prepared for his future career thanks to what he’s learned at City Colleges.

"I think City Colleges is a great foundation to collegiate work. It’ll get you prepared for a larger university. You’ll form relationships and professional relationships that will last a lifetime."
