Gabriel
Over and over again, City Colleges proved to be the best place for Gabriel to explore his interests and prepare for a tech career, all at a price he could afford.
Anas is no stranger to obstacles. Before the semester began, he enrolled in a six-week summer bridge program at Wilbur Wright College designed to help School of Engineering students become calculus-ready and prepared for engineering courses. However, when time came to take the ALEKS exam to assess his mathematical knowledge, Anas was off by one point. But he was determined not to let that deter him from his plan.
Anas returned to that same bridge program the following summer, taking the classes he needed to accomplish his goal. He says City Colleges gave him a second chance.
As a returning, non-traditional student, Anas worried about being the only older student but instead found a sense of belonging. After a rocky start in high school, being named Wilbur Wright’s 2026 valedictorian has Anas feeling excited about his future. Anas dreams of transferring to Illinois Institute of Technology, UIC, or the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He eventually wants to work as a civil engineer. Looking back on his experience at Wilbur Wright College, Anas is grateful for the amazing community he’s built, his incredible success, and the guidance and resources he needed to achieve his dreams.
