The Chicago Welcome Back Center helps internationally educated and licensed nurses through the credential/licensing process to be able to work as a nurse (RN) or a health professional in Illinois.

In partnership with the Chicago Bilingual Nurse Consortium, the Chicago Welcome Back Center at AVI seeks to put people back on track to a career they love. The goal is to improve the quality of life for these nurses, their families and the communities where they live and work, all while increasing the number of bilingual nurses in the city of Chicago and health outcomes for their patients.

About the National Welcome Back Initiative

Since its inception in 2001, the Welcome Back Initiative has served close to 15,000 participants from 167 countries with a mission to build a bridge between the pool of internationally trained health workers already living in the United States and the need for linguistically and culturally competent health services in underserved communities. The centers work closely with participants to develop career pathway plans that builds on their education, experience, and skills.
