Areas of Support

The OMD Program provides students with robust support to keep them on track to graduate, including:

  • Financial Support: Up to $1,000 in performance-based stipends per academic year.
  • Personal Support: One-on-one support to help students navigate college.
  • Academic Support: Access to monthly scholar development sessions and tutoring.
  • Professional Support: Connection to a volunteer professional coach to help students plan their next steps.

How to Apply

Eligibility Requirements

Students must:

  • Be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours
  • Have a 2.0 GPA or higher
  • Be pursuing their first degree or advanced certificate
  • Be in good academic standing (cannot have active SAP holds)
  • If you are re-enrolling: Must have at least 18 credits remaining in your program

If you would like to be a part of the One Million Degrees program, please complete the interest form below.

*New students enrolling in classes at Harold Washington College, Malcolm X College, or Olive-Harvey College who meet the eligibility requirements listed above will be admitted into the OMD program automatically. If you’re eligible, please check your CCC email or reach out to your college advisor for information.

Employees, Partners, and Alumni: Become an OMD Coach

Help mentor a City Colleges student to success by becoming a volunteer coach, also known as a professional mentor. By volunteering just a few hours a month, you can make a lasting difference in a student’s life and career. OMD will provide the training and tools to help you support and empower our hardworking students.

To be eligible to be a coach, you must:

  • Have an associate degree or higher
  • Have a passion for educational equity
  • Cannot be a current City Colleges student

You can become a coach in three easy steps:

  1. Meet the requirements
  2. Apply for coaching program
  3. Complete coach training
