Malcolm X College is proud to celebrate Black History Month 2026 with the theme: “Celebrating Our Legacy of Excellence, 100 Years and Beyond.”
As part of this year’s programming, the Black History Month Planning Committee is honored to welcome one of our own City Colleges of Chicago alum and a true living legend — Dr. Christine Houston, creator of NBC’s iconic hit series 227.
Join us for an intimate Film and Feedback experience featuring a work-in-progress documentary short that explores the untold story behind 227 and the remarkable 90-year-old visionary who brought it to life.
This is not a traditional film screening — it’s a collaborative working session where your thoughtful feedback will help shape and refine the final documentary. Be part of preserving, uplifting, and strengthening an important cultural legacy.
Following the viewing, guests will have the opportunity to engage with Dr. Houston during a special live Q&A.
We look forward to celebrating Dr. Houston’s extraordinary legacy of excellence with you.
