City Colleges Academic Affairs is proud to offer Instructional Fundamentals: Student Learning & Success, a self-paced, asynchronous short course intended to support faculty instructional development in line with Pillar 1 of the Academic Excellence Framework (ccc.edu/aef). Instructional Fundamentals: Student Learning & Success helps faculty reframe teaching as learning, leverage students’ prior knowledge, and preparing for the start of the term.
Objectives:
- Understand the shift from teaching focus to student learning focus
- Prepare to help students connect prior knowledge
- Identify formative feedback opportunities in your course
Examples of reflections & artifacts you’ll work on:
- Application of student-focused learning
- Tool to determine students’ prior knowledge
- Modifications to syllabus
Schedule:
The short course is self paced and will be available throughout the Fall 2025 semester. Participants should plan to dedicate 4-6 hours total to take part in the short course.
