City Colleges Academic Affairs is proud to offer Instructional Fundamentals: Inclusion & Accessibility, a self-paced asynchronous short course intended to support faculty instructional development in line with Pillar 4 of the Academic Excellence Framework (ccc.edu/aef). Instructional Fundamentals: Inclusion & Accessibility uses Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as a guide to help participants identify inclusive and accessible practices they can implement in their courses.

Examples of reflections & artifacts you’ll work on:

  • Self-reflection on instructional practices
  • Application of UDL principles to existing course materials

Schedule:
The short course is self paced and will be available throughout the Spring 2025 semester. Participants should plan to dedicate 4-6 hours total to take part in the short course.

Please complete the interest form if you are interested in being added to the course. A member of the Instructional Fundamentals team will contact you within 2-3 business days. 

  1. Identify and implement inclusive teaching practices based on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. 
  2. Develop accessible instructional materials that accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs. 
  3. Create course assessments that are flexible and equitable, ensuring all students have opportunities to succeed. 
  4. Foster an inclusive classroom culture that promotes engagement, respect, and academic success for all students. 
  5. Utilize digital tools and resources to enhance accessibility in online and in-person learning environments.

The Academic Excellence Framework (AEF) clearly prioritizes the skills, activities, initiatives, roles, and goals that directly support consistently strong teaching and learning at City Colleges of Chicago.
