HBCUs are a part of my family’s legacy. My grandfather attended Morehouse College. My father graduated from Morehouse College and my mother was a graduate of Clark College, now known as Clark Atlanta University.

I was so captivated by the energy at Howard. I met all these interesting Black people from all over the world who were very cool and very interested in education. I knew immediately I was in the right place, and I got to work acclimating.

I didn’t fully appreciate my experience at a Historically Black College/University (HBCU) right away. It wasn’t until I left that I learned the value and importance of my education at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB).
