Join City Colleges of Chicago, the Social Studies Network, and the Timuel D. Black Jr. Scholarship & Fellowship Program for a free Black History Month screening of Against the Current, a powerful new documentary exploring Black resistance in Illinois.

The film follows Kyla, a Chicago high school senior and community organizer, as she travels across the state uncovering stories of Black communities who have resisted oppression across time and place. Through conversations in Chicago, Robbins, New Philadelphia, and Cairo, the film invites viewers to reflect on history and re-imagine their role in shaping the future.
